About Me
Welcome, I’m Beth.
My love of movement started with and stems from my background in dance; I trained from an early age in both ballet and contemporary dance, which I pursued to degree and pre-professional level.
Dance is incredibly taxing on the body and I experienced a number of injuries along the way.
I first discovered Pilates during one of these setbacks. The practice offers exceptional rehabilitation from injury as well as the recovery of everyday, functional and free-flowing movement that we so often lose through the daily grind of life. By developing awareness of the connection between breath, core and movement, Pilates provides a beautiful, low-impact yet highly effective movement practice that delivers strength and restored range of motion, while simultaneously releasing tension (both physically and mentally/emotionally).
Having discovered the power of Pilates for myself, I continued to pursue it both as a complimentary practice to my dance training, and a movement practice in and of itself. I also went on to train to teach it as I believe in what it has to offer for everyone.
I discovered Zumba in similar fashion. Having lost my joy in dance somewhere along the way, I stumbled across a local Zumba class and decided to give it a go. It was medicine to the soul! With a brilliant instructor and a playlist of fun world rhythms and steps, I found myself getting lost in the music again and discovering afresh that joy of movement that has always been, and continues to be, an important part of my life.
I’m passionate about moving and about overall wellbeing. I would love to share the joy of movement with you and invite you to discover for yourself how it can enrich your lived experience.
How can I help you?
Movement is one of the defining characteristics of all living organisms and a big part of what it means to be and feel alive. Perhaps you relate to the joy and empowerment of expressing yourself freely in movement? Or, maybe you know first-hand the frustration caused by injury, illness, joint pain, or negative body image.
If you share a love of movement, in whatever form that may take for you – dance, sport, adventuring in the great outdoors, gardening or being able to keep up with kids or grandkids – or are looking to discover or re-awaken this passion, then I’d like to invite you to join me in exploring the wonder of moving and of being alive!
I offer classes to suite a range of fitness and ability/experience and would love to help you find a class that you feel at home in.
