What is Pilates?
Discover the freedom of flowing movement and strength from the inside out by learning to harmonise the power of the breath with that of the core to achieve ease of motion.
Pilates teaches a mindful approach to movement. It will develop your awareness of good alignment and posture while strengthening the core muscles of your body to support this, simultaneously freeing your limbs to create effortless and pain-free movement for everyday life, as well as improved athletic or artistic performance. It’s a low-impact form of movement that is nevertheless a challenging workout!
Through the principles of movement established by Joseph Pilates – alignment, centring, breath, relaxation, coordination, concentration, flowing movement and stamina – not only will you discover a longer, leaner and stronger you but also learn to release physical and mental tension and discover a sense of calm.
Is Pilates for You?
Pilates offers low impact exercise which is beneficial if you are looking to:
- improve your posture
- develop greater muscle tone and strength
- increase your range of motion and flexibility
- alleviate stiffness in your back or joints
- lower stress and improve the quality of your sleep
- reduce regular headaches (where these are caused by tension)
- improve your mental clarity, focus and mood

What to Expect from a Class
Before joining a class each client is required to attend at least one one-to-one private session. This induction class allows us to discuss and assess your physical ability, needs and goals, so that you can join a class safely and at a level suitable to your needs.
Classes have no more than 12 participants. This ensures that you continue to enjoy personal attention and feedback in the class to keep moving safely.
In each class the instructor will guide you through the movement sequences, providing you with options to choose the level of difficulty that’s right for you, so that you can challenge yourself to continue to improve and progress at a pace that feels right for you.
Zumba
What is Zumba?
Zumba is a class of energetic world rhythms in which the instructor guides you through dance routines designed to get you moving and enjoying the beat.
Is Zumba for You?
Zumba is a “no-expectation” dance class where you can just let the party animal out. If you feel the itch to move and any of the following describe you, then check it out:
- Want to have fun with other like-minded people?
- Want to do some exercise without it feeling like a workout?
- Love to get your groove on, or have two left feet but have an itch to dance?
- Want to be guided how to feel and enjoy the music?

What to Expect from a Class
A class where all bodies, fitness levels and dance-abilities are welcome. You don’t need to know or memorise any moves, just mirror my lead and feel the freedom to bring your own personality and flare.
Gone a different way? Different arms? It doesn’t matter! This isn’t about perfection but simply having fun and enjoying moving in your own body.
Starting with a warm up sequence to shake out any stiffness from the day, the music and moves will gradually build you up to a sweat. Occasional breaks are provided to catch your breath, but you have complete flexibility to only push as hard as you feel able and to take a breather or grab a drink as often as you need.
The final sequence will wind you back down to be able to finish on a high having enjoyed an up beat dance workout and carry on with your day.
